Review: Bilik pengantin

The bilik pengantin was a joint effort between my aunties - my mum's sisters and sister in law. This was one area where I didn't really get involved in. The aunties however, seemed very eager to get it done and I was happy to go along with their suggestions.

The end product...

Bed and side tables - Fella Design
Backdrop curtains - Bandung, Indonesia
Bedcover - Makkah, Saudi Arabia
Cleopatra chair - Borrowed.
Lace curtains - Iran

The bed
My mum bought the bed and side tables a month before the wedding. When it first arrived, it was white. Mum was not happy. They took it back and re-delivered the bed she actually ordered.

Backdrop curtains
These were bought when my mum went on a trip to Bandung. At that point she didn't know what the colour scheme of the room would be so she chose colours that would go with anything - cream and peach. She chose chiffon to make the curtains soft and flowy. And it definitely had that impact.

Bedcover
One of my aunts' bought this in Makkah when she went there for her Hajj last year. She graciously offered it to me when we were talking about the bilik pengantin. Alhamdullillah memang rezeki I. It is made of silk, and has pearls sewn all over using gold thread. Of course, it is not meant to be slept on, but that's not the point is it? hehe

A close up of the bedcovers

Cleopatra chair
We didn't plan to have the chair initially. However, after we finished doing the room, the area next to the window looked a bit empty so we decided to put the chair there, borrowed from one of my aunts'. Last minute decision hehe. In the end, we took quite a lot of photos near/on the chair, nasib baik ade that chair.

Lace curtains
My mum bought this when she went on a trip to Iran, almost 15 years ago, anticipating that she will use it when one of use gets married. Mothers, always prepared for everything :P

I miss the room, my room in London is bare, with no flowy curtains or pearl bedcovers. Note to self - Must decorate room, My best friends gave me a duvet cover set as a wedding present, so that's a good place to start.
